WTPF-21 CHARTS COURSE FOR AN EQUITABLE AND INCLUSIVE DIGITAL FUTURE
The sixth World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum (WTPF-21), held virtually from 16-18 December 2021, gathered over 400 top representatives from the public/private sectors and affirmed the need to align ICTs and rapidly evolving new and emerging technologies with global priorities for sustainable development. The Forum approved a set of 5 non-binding policy guidance documents, known as “Opinions”, which will help shape future technology policy and bring the benefits of new and emerging technologies to everyone, everywhere. The output of this forum sends a clear, strong and positive message to the world that these technologies and ICTs in general are essential to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals and address some of the world’s most pressing opportunities and challenges, from COVID-19 to the digital divide.
